Bargain Booze FAQ's
Q. How do I find out where my local Bargain Booze, Bargain Booze Plus, Bargain Booze Select Convenience, Thorougoods or Thorougoods Select Convenience store is?
A. If you visit our Store Finder page you will be able to find out where your local store is. You can either search a geographical area or you can search by postcode, whichever is easiest for you.
Q. How do I find out what beer offers are available at Bargain Booze?
A. Our Beer Offers section outlines the fantastic offers you can expect to find at your local shop. Offers are only available whilst stocks last and where stocked, so we would recommend that you call into your local store regularly to make sure that you don't miss out!
Q. Does Bargain Booze just sell alcohol?
A. Most Bargain Booze shops offer a wide variety of products including confectionery, snacks, cigarettes and soft drinks. Bargain Booze Plus stores generally provide a range of convenience products and possibly additional services, such as Post Office or news and magazines. Bargain Booze Select Convenience provides the customer with a full convenience range that is second to none. At a Bargain Booze Select Convenience, the customer can fill a full weekly shopping basket. Thorougoods and Thorougoods Select Convenience also provide an excellent competitively priced licensed range, as well as offering the customer a focused grocery and convenience package.
Q. I have always been under the impression Bargain Booze only sells cheap products so wouldn't necessarily stock the type of wine I prefer, is this the case?
A. Here at Bargain Booze and Thorougoods we do aim to offer products at the most competitive prices all year round. But that doesn't necessarily mean we are selling cheap products; we just sell products cheaply! Most Bargain Booze and Thorougoods stores have a wide variety of good quality wines for sale so check out our Wine Offers to see if we have what you've been looking for.
Q. I am constantly hearing about 'binge drinking' on the news and I want to make sure that I'm not drinking to excess. Can you help?
A. The Government recommends that the average woman should not exceed 2 – 3 units of alcohol per day. For an average man it is slightly higher at around 3 – 4 units per day. Bargain Booze supports the work of www.drinkaware.co.uk and we would strongly recommend that you visit the drinkaware web site for site for some further information. Remember; most people in the UK enjoy alcohol as part of a normal lifestyle. Have a drink, have fun... but be safe and sensible!
Q. I've just returned from a trip to Ireland and really enjoyed the Cider. Will my local Bargain Booze sell Cider and if so will they be running any Cider Offers?
A. Yes your local Bargain Booze will sell Cider and you will be pleased to know we run a number of Cider Offers during the course of the year which are sure to include something you like.
Q. I am really impressed with the competitions Bargain Booze have be running lately. If I enter one competition, am I allowed to enter the others?
A. As long as you are over 18 you can enter all of our competitions, with the caveat that only one person from each household can enter each competition. Visit our T&Cs for full details. Most of our competitions run for 6 weeks, so keep checking back as there are loads of fantastic prizes to be given away throughout the year.
Q. I'm planning a small party for around 10 friends and I'm really confused about what to buy, can you help?
A. Without knowing what you or your friends drink it is hard to recommend particular brands but in my experience cold beer, a few bottles of wine, one of two spirits and lots of mixers (as these always run out) should do the trick. Also, as Bargain Booze are currently running a number of beer offers, wine offers and spirits offers it won't break the bank to buy a bit of each. Don't forget the drivers and the under 18s either! Bargain Booze and Thorougoods sell a wide range of still and carbonated soft drinks, along with teas and coffees for those driving to the party. I would also suggest that you don't skimp on the nibbles. Why not try a selection of crisps, dips and snacks from the extensive range found in most stores.
Q. How old do you have to be to purchase alcohol from Bargain Booze?
A. The legal age you have to be in England is 18. Additionally, Bargain Booze operates an 'under 21' policy, so if you are lucky enough to look under 21 you will be asked to provide valid identification such as a photographic driving licence, passport or a card with the PASS logo. Many shops are now operating an under 25s policy so please don't be alarmed if you are asked for identification – we are just doing our bit to prevent underage drinking and protect our local areas.
Q. How do I find out about any new products Bargain Booze is selling?
A. Bargain Booze has recently launched a new section, aptly named the New Products section, which will promote any new products we will be offering in store.
Q. How do I go about applying for a job with Bargain Booze or Thorougoods?
A. The Bargain Booze and Thorougoods website have a job vacancies section which gives you the option to apply for jobs in our shops, in the Head Office or in either of our Distribution Centres.

A. Bargain Booze work hard every day to recycle as much as possible. In fact, since 2005, the level of plastic recycled at Bargain Booze has increased 11 fold and the cardboard 16 fold!! Additionally, Bargain Booze has introduced a range of reusable bags, designed to reduce the numbers of carrier bags used in our stores. All of the profits made from the sale of these bags are spent on environmental projects that directly improve the environment in the UK through a number of activities co-ordinated by Encams (link to www.encams.org) and Bargain Booze.
